themes..

Mon Jun 29, 2009, 3:57 PM
after being without my camera for a while I feel lonely - almost naked - when walking the streets without it. The sad story began in the cold Mongolian spring where the sub-zero 25 degrees celcius became too much for my fellow traveller - the pentax k200d. Now, after getting home and turning it in to the service centre - I'm sitting here without having taking a single proper picture in over 14 weeks. It has taught me alot and realized that I will, for the first time in life, take pictures according to a theme. Maybe a.. two week theme or so. When I get my camera back Loneliness will be the theme. Listening to The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby it feels completely right.. and it suits my photo-pattern - moody and not very cheery pictures..

  • Listening to: the beatles - eleanor rigby
  • Drinking: water

:iconradiolab:
Of course i've seen Pi, it's one of the few movies i'd never get bored of watching over and over and over and over.

I'm really glad you've seen it, I know NO one else who has!

Few people have seen it indeed, but then again being as unique as it is it should draw a narrow crowd, a narrow crowd who does appreciate it.. =)

It is an inspiring movie, with insanely creative cinematography too. Now you know of one other chap who has seen it..

/one who likes fractal patterns.

Mmm, the golden ratio and it's fellow mysteries.
I have a little story oyu might be interested in...

A few years ago a man from Melbourne (Australia) invented a Fractal compression method for computer images. It worked on the theory of the golden ratio, he found that if you take a photo of a forest, the image could compress to a tiiiiiinyyy file, several megabytes to only a few KB for example. But when he took a photo of a cityscape, it could only compress certain sections of the image, namely trees, water and other natural items. The deduction is, that everything natural is somehow intertwined with the golden ratio. So eventually he decides to showcase the technology at an electronics expo, demonstrating the software. Along comes the US Army (no shit) and all of a sudden the software is never heard of again, not publicly at least. Why? Most likely because it obsoletes camouflaged bunkers, as they are man made. That's only one possibility though, think of it what you want. But it does lend credence to what the movie Pi is hinting at.
